The (University grants commission) “UGC” NET ( National Eligibility Test ) is conducted by the “National Testing Agency” (NTA) on behalf on the University grants commission (UGC). The exam will be held from December 31, 2025, to January 7, 2025. The UGC NET 2025 Notification PDF for December session was released at ugcnet.nta.nic.in on October 7. The application dates are October 7, to November 7. The UGC NET is not a recruitment with fixed “vacancy count ” for each subject in the usual sense rather the eligibility for JRF / Assistant professor. you will not find detailed vacancy.

  •  Vacancies :

    • The UGC NET is not a recruitment with fixed “vacancy count ” for each subject in the usual sense rather the eligibility for JRF / Assistant professor. you will not find detailed “vacancy table” for each subject in the notification in the way you might for a job recruitment.
    • Always check the subject-list in the notification to ensure your subject is included.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • You must have a Master’s degree or equivalent from a university/institution recognized by UGC.
  • Minimum Marks
    •  For general / EWS category at least 55% (without rounding off) in the master’s.
    • OBC -NCL /SC/ST/PWD/ Third Gender : at least 50% marks.
  • Final years students also allowed apply provisionally.
  • If you hold 4-year Bachelor’s degree (8-Semister) with minimum 75% marks you may eligible.

Age Limit :

  • For JRF : Maximum 30 years as of 1 December 2025
    • Age relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Women/PWD candidates.
  • For assistant Professor : No upper age limit:

   Syllabus :

The syllabus varies based on the chosen subject e.g. English, Commerce, Political Science, Education, etc.

  • Paper 2: Subject specific syllabus (as per your post graduation discipline).

  7. Submit the application and download the confirmation page for future reference
