The Territorial Army conducts opens “Rallies” to Recruit Soldiers (General Duty), Clerk and Tradesmen (Various trades) across the country. For 2025 a number of such rallies have been announced covering different units, states and trade categories. The Posts will be started from 15 November 2025, to December 2025 or 1422, Posts Recruitment 2025.
Overview :
The Territorial Army conducts opens “Rallies” to Recruit Soldiers (General Duty), Clerk and Tradesmen (Various trades) across the country
- One Notification Mention 1,422 Vacancies (Soldiers GD, Clerk & Tradesmen) under TA Rally 2025 – Online apply period 15 Nov to 1 Dec 2025.
- Another Zone : 716 vacancies for soldiers (GD) under the 105 inf Bn (TA) Rajputana Rifles for Delhi/NCT & Haryana (expect Panchkula) from 28 Nov to 10 Dec. 2025.
- Smaller Unit : 62 Vacancies in 127 inf Bn (TA), Garhwal Rifles (Dehradun) for special trades, Rally 14 – 19 July 2025.
Important Dates :
- Application / Registration window: From 15 November 2025.(in many rallies) to – 1 December 2025.
- Rally dates (for actual physical/document verification) may occur mid – Nov to December in many states. One example : 28 Nov to 10 Dec 2025 for Delhi/Haryana Zone.
- For some special unit rallies earlier : e.g. 14-19 July 2025 for the 62 – Vacancies event.
Vacancies :
- One Board Notification: 1,422 vacancies across GD, Clerk tradesmen.
- Another specific zone: 716 Vacancies for Soldiers (General Duty) in Delhi & Haryana Zone (105 inf Bn TA).
- A smaller rally: 62 Posts in various trades (soldiers GD Artisan Wood Work, Chef, Washermen etc.) in 127 in Bn TA.
Eligibility :
- Soldier (general duty): 10th Pass (Matric) with 45% Aggregate & minimum 33% in each subject.
- Soldier (Clerk): 12th Pass with 60% aggregate & at least 50% in each subject, and 50% in English + Mathematics/Accounts.
- Tradesmen: 10th Pass (in many cases) with minimum 33% in each subject For some trades (House keeper, Mess Cook) eligibility may be 8th Pass.
Age Limit :
- General Pattern: 18 to 42 years for Most soldiers trade categories.
- Some notification mention up to 45 years in special cases.
- For ex-servicemen/trade vacancies specific relaxations apply in some cases.
Physical Standards :
- Height: Minimum 160cm for many states (with relaxation for certain region/Gorkhas).
- Chest: Unexpected 77cm (expanded-82cm) in many cases.
- Weight: Proportionate to height & age as per Army medical standards.
Exam Pattern :
- The paper is Objective type (multiple choice questions MCQs).
- Duration: 2 hours for many posts.
- The paper is bilingual (English & Hindi) in most cases.
- Negative marking is in place: For each wrong answer : 1 mark is deducted(in many notifications) while each correct answer gives+2 Marks.
For general duty and tradesmen
- Total questions: 50
- Total Marks: 100
- Mark per question: 2 marks
- Subject-wise:
- General Knowledge: -20 questions – 40 marks
- General Science: -15 questions- 30 marks
- Elementary Mathematics: – 15 questions – 30 marks
- Minimum Qualifying marks – 32 For GD Tradesmen in many notifications.
Soldier Clerk
- Also 50 questions, 100 marks
- General Knowledge & General science:-10 questions – 20 marks
- Elementary Mathematics & Computer Science: – 15 questions – 30 marks
- General English – 25 questions – 50 marks.
- Minimum passing marks for clerks may be higher – 40.
Syllabus :
General Knowledge
- Current Events: National & International news, Important awards, Personalities.
- History of India (especially freedom movement), Geography (Rivers, Mountains, solar system, Earth)
- Indian Armed Forces, National symbol, Sports.
General Science
- Physics: Forces & motion, Electricity, heat, simple machines.
- Chemistry: metals/non- metals, carbon & compounds
- Biology: Human body system, diseases.
Elementary Mathematics
- Arithmetic: number system, HCF/LCM, Percentage, time & work, time & distance, profit & loss.
- Algebra & basic Geometry : simple equations, mensuration (area/volume of cube, cuboid, sphere cylinder.
Computer Science (for clerks)
- Basic Knowledge of computer hardware/software, MS Office, typing. etc.
- General English (for clerk); grammar (parts of speech, tense, etc. ) Vocabulary, Comprehension.
Application Process :
- Many Rallies for 2025 mention Online application start date (15 Nov 2025) and closing sate ( 1 Dec 2025.)
- Some units operate on Walk-in rally basic (candidates report at rally location with document) rather than full online registration.
- No application fee in many cases.
- Documents to bring: educational certificates, domicile, caste certificate (if applicable), character certificate, multiple passport photographs (often 20), Aadhaar/PAN etc.
Tips For Application :
- Ensure your match eligibility (age, education, domicile) before applying.
- Gather original documents + attested copies in advance.
- Arrive at rally site on or before the scheduled time (often early morning) with Photographs and all relevant certificates.
- Physical fitness must be prepared ahead of time (running, pull-ups , etc.) for better chances.
- Read the Official Notification carefully (unit-wise) for any special conditional or Relaxations.
Selection Process :
- Document Verification at rally site (education, age domicile, character, etc.)
- Physical Fitness Test (PET) & Physical Measurements (height, chest, weight).
- Written Examination (for GD/clerk/Tradesmen depending on Post) – tests general Knowledge, Army Awareness, trade-specific Knowledge etc.
- Medical Examination – as per Army medical standards.
- Final Merit List/Offer – Candidates who clear all above stages are selected.
