Eligibility :

Educational Qualifications
The qualifications differ depending on whether a candidate applies for Paper I (Classes 1-5), Paper II (Classes 6-8), or both. Final-year students in an approved teacher education course are also eligible to apply. 
For Paper I (Classes I to V)
Eligibility typically involves Senior Secondary education with a minimum percentage and completion or final year of a relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in elementary education, or a graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed degree. 
For Paper II (Classes VI to VIII)
Candidates usually need a graduate degree and completion or final year of a relevant teacher education program, often with a specified minimum percentage of marks. 

Age Limit :

    • Minimum Age: Candidates must be at least 17 or 18 years old.
    • Maximum Age: There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CTET exam.

Paper 1 Exam Pattern (for Classes I to V)
Paper 1 is for candidates aspiring to teach primary school students. It consists of five compulsory sections:

Paper 2 Exam Pattern (for Classes VI to VIII) 
Paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach upper primary (elementary) level students. It has four sections, with a subject-specific choice for the final section:

Syllabus :

Paper I (for Classes I to V)
  • Child Development and Pedagogy (30 Questions): Focuses on the educational psychology of teaching and learning for children aged 6-11 years, inclusive education, and learning theories (Piaget, Kohlberg, Vygotsky, etc.).
  • Language I (30 Questions): Tests proficiency related to the medium of instruction, including comprehension and the pedagogy of language development.
  • Language II (30 Questions): A language other than Language I, focusing on language comprehension, communication abilities, and pedagogical issues.
  • Mathematics (30 Questions): Covers basic concepts, problem-solving abilities, and pedagogical understanding of topics like numbers, geometry, shapes, measurement, and data handling.
  • Environmental Studies (EVS) (30 Questions): Focuses on concepts, problem-solving, and pedagogical issues related to the environment, family and friends, food, shelter, water, and travel. 
Paper II Syllabus (Classes VI to VIII) 
  • Child Development and Pedagogy (30 Questions): Focuses on the psychology of learning for the age group 11-14 years.
  • Language I (30 Questions): Similar to Paper I but at a slightly more advanced level.
  • Language II (30 Questions): A different language from Language I, focusing on comprehension and language pedagogy.
  • Mathematics & Science (60 Questions): For Mathematics and Science teachers. Topics are from the NCERT syllabus for classes VI-VIII, including number systems, algebra, geometry, mensuration, food, materials, natural phenomena, and pedagogical issues.
  • Social Studies/Social Science (60 Questions): For Social Studies teachers. Covers topics from History, Geography, and Social and Political Life, along with pedagogical issues.

  5. Pay the application fee Online.

Application Fee:

  • General/OBC : ₹1000 Paper I or II – ₹1200 Both Papers
  • SC/ST/Differently Abled : ₹500 Paper I or II – ₹600 Both Papers.
