RRB Isolated Category Recruitment 2026 Eligibility :

Post Name   Minimum Educational Qualification & Experience
Junior Translator (Hindi) Master’s degree in Hindi/English with English/Hindi as a compulsory subject at degree level AND a recognized Diploma/Certificate in Translation (or 2 years translation experience).
Chief Law Assistant Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university with at least 3 years of standing practice as a pleader at the Bar.
Staff and Welfare Inspector Graduation plus any of the following: Diploma in Labour/Social Welfare, Diploma in Labour Laws, LLB with Labour Law papers, PG Diploma in Personnel Management, or MBA (HR/Personnel Management).
Lab Assistant Grade III 10+2 (Intermediate) with Physics and Chemistry from any recognized board.
Public Prosecutor Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) with at least 5 years of standing as an advocate at the Bar.
Senior Publicity Inspector Degree from a recognized university and a Diploma in Public Relations/Advertising/Journalism/Mass Communication (2 years experience is often desirable).
Scientific Assistant (Training) Second Class Master’s Degree in Psychology with 1 year experience in the administration of psychological tests.

Age Limit (as on January 1, 2026)

The minimum age for all posts is 18 years. Maximum age limits vary: 
  • Chief Law Assistant: 18–43 years (or 18–40 depending on specific zone requirements).
  • Junior Translator (Hindi): 18–33 or 36 years.
  • Staff & Welfare Inspector: 18–33 or 36 years.
  • Lab Assistant Grade III: 18–30 or 33 years.

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years.

Exam pattern :

The CBT for most posts consists of 100 objective-type questions to be completed in 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates with a scribe).

  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

2. Post-Specific Exam Variations
Certain posts have unique exam structures:
  • Junior Translator (Hindi): The CBT focuses heavily on language proficiency.
    • Hindi: 30 questions.
    • English: 20 questions.
    • General subjects (GK, Reasoning, Arithmetic, Computer): 50 questions.
    • Translation Test: A descriptive test (English to Hindi and vice versa) follows for shortlisted candidates, requiring a minimum of 60% to qualify.
  • Stenographer Posts: Shortlisted candidates must pass a Stenography Skill Test (80 words per minute). 

Syllabus 

  • Professional Ability: Post-specific technical knowledge (e.g., Law for Chief Law Assistant, Labour Laws for Welfare Inspector, Translation for Junior Translator).
  • General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian history (freedom struggle), geography, polity, economy, and environmental issues.
  • Mathematics: Number systems, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, ratio & proportion, percentage, time and work, algebra, and basic statistics.
  • Reasoning: Analogies, coding-decoding, syllogism, Venn diagrams, data interpretation, and directions.
  • General Science: Basic concepts in Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences, generally up to the 10th standard level.

The selection process for CEN 08/2025 involves four major stages:

  • Stage 2: Skill/Proficiency Test (Post-Specific): Shortlisted candidates must undergo practical assessments depending on the post applied for:
    • Junior Translator (Hindi): Translation Test (Hindi to English and vice versa).
    • Stenographer: Stenography Skill Test.
    • Other Posts: May include a Teaching Skill Test (TST) or Performance Test (PT) as applicable.
